Terry worked at ESPN for nine years, covering the Seattle Seahawks 2013 through 2015 (including both Super Bowl seasons) and national motorsports from 2006 to 2013, along with other professional sports. He also was a sports journalist for three major metro newspapers (the Dallas Morning News, the Houston Chronicle and the Houston Post) before joining ESPN.
Terry left ESPN in 2015 to take the position on Vice President of Communications for the NHRA Drag Racing Series, helping the sport achieve major gains in television ratings, track attendance and social-media awareness over a 16-month consulting period before leaving at the end of 2016.
Education & Honors
Terry is an honors graduate of the University of Houston with a B.A. in Radio/Television Communications. He has earned numerous honors, including induction into the media wing of the Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame in April of 2011. He also has earned many writing honors, including the Citation for Writing Excellence from Hearst Newspapers and the Excellence in Journalism Award from the Houston Press Club.
